The Italian super SUV is heading to the race track.
Lamborghini has showcassed a brand-new sports utility vehicle (SUV) that will form the basis of a new championship in 2020.
The new SUV will be the first that will combine both racetrack and off-road events across a calendar in Europe and the Middle East.
Lamborghini has recently unveiled a close-to-production concept that accurately previews a race-going version of the Urus.
Based on the regular-production Urus, the Urus ST-X concept sees a whopping 25 percent ( 1,200 pounds) weight reduction that makes it more dynamic on and off the road.
Other major upgrades include a carbon fiber hood, sport exhaust system with hexagonal tips positioned below the rear doors, a large rear wing, and 21-inch center-locking alloy wheels.
The Urus ST-X Concept was unveiled at the Vallelunga circuit, north of Rome, during the Italian marque’s World Finals event at the weekend. The racing version of the Super Sport Utility Vehicle is the first in the manufacturer’s history.
We’ll see the production Lamborghini Urus ST-X in 2020 in a single-brand championship with both on the events and on the roads, including on FIA-approved circuits in Europe and in the Middle East.
